Worst. Decision. Ever.

I hope you've been following the recent Supreme Court decision about corporate contributions to campaigns. It is by far the worst decision to come down from the court of my lifetime. Corporations have no right to be covered under the first amendment and free speech. They are not people and have access to more money than any one person, which in turn becomes power. But you should read this too, because the pros are more eloquent than me.

It sets our government down a path of control by the richest interests, whose own interests in turn are only money. They have no concern for individual welfare or happiness. The bottom line is their bottom line.

Listen closely - that's the sound of our country's forefathers collectively rolling in their graves. Connecticut no longer has a motto because the Constitution is now irrelevant. We are all going to be subject to the tyranny of corporations if we don't act. The forefathers were concerned about imperialism from other countries. They did not expect this turn; it is imperialism of the mind when corporations control our thoughts and actions.

Fortunately some people are forward thinking. I last posted about YouStreet. Charles Schumer (D - the home state) has been working on legislation to limit contributions while working within the framework of the decision. We must support action like this.
